My time with Web Design and Publishing

So far this semester has been very strange for me. It’s my last semester here at Texas State before I graduate and I’m only taking 6 hours which is a bit of change from my usual 12. So far my experience in my last two classes has been excellent. Web Design and Publishing in particular has been an interesting experience to say the least. Working on building my own website and learning how to code things is a skill that I wish I had begun learning much earlier.

Taking this class has been great because I have learned the basics of HTML as well as CSS through building my own site. My favorite assignment so far has been Project 2. I really enjoyed redesigning my website from a crappy Window’s 95 layout to a slightly less crappy layout with CSS.

My least favorite assignment so far has been the troubleshooting assessment. I struggled with the assignment because I was in a rush to get to a meeting for another class so I didn’t take my time to completely fix the page. Looking back on the assignment, if I would have taken my time and relaxed, I wouldn’t have stressed so much resulting in a much better grade.

I feel that the most important thing I’ve learned out of everything in the class so far is Responsive Design. Learning how to make your website and the images on it look good on any device is key in today’s internet culture which is always roaming from platform to platform.

I did not enjoy the Troubleshooting Assessment either! I was not rushed per say, but I hate anything with time limits and I kept messing it up more instead of fixing it.

I agree as well. The troubleshooting assignment had me frustrated because I am not too familiar with coding and I also don’t like being timed as well. I wish I could have had some prior experience with HTML and coding to help in this class. Project 2 was my favorite to work on too.
