Quartz, a website I visit once a day to keep my mind sharp

It really is a gem.

Part business, part design, part culture, part international news = Quartz. They publish a news briefing at 5am every morning that I get in my email inbox, and if there’s a link that catches my eye I head to the website to read more.

Here’s what the Quartz about page says:

“Quartz is a digitally native news outlet, born in 2012, for business people in the new global economy. We publish bracingly creative and intelligent journalism with a broad worldview, built primarily for the devices closest at hand: tablets and mobile phones.”

The articles are informative but don’t drag on, they insert graphs to visually represent numbers and figures (very helpful), and they cover a wide variety of topics from current sales in the beverage industry, to the current growing concern over the Zika virus, to how your deodorant is changing your bodies microbes. Informative.

I’ve never heard of Quartz until reading this, but it sounds pretty cool! I like that it is part international news, I am always really interested in global news/events so that part makes me really want to visit the site. I also like that it’s part design and part culture. I am kind of over all of the social media sites that are just about pop culture celebrity news, I don’t really care that much about learning what the Kardashians are doing nowadays, but I would like to learn what is happening in the design world. Thanks for sharing!

I’m not sure I’ve heard of this one. I’m a journalism major though, so this looks like it would definitely come in handy. From what you said, it sounds like the site really pushes “data journalism” as well. Also, nice jokes in the title AND first line. #impressed
