It’s difficult for me to say one hobby is more important to me than the other. However, I think I can narrow it down to three. My biggest passions are golf, film, and music. The original obsession of mine was film. And when I say I was obsessed with film, I don’t mean I loved every movie I ever saw. I was drawn to certain types of movies and had a general love for the history of cinema. I’ve taken three film classes over the subject and feel I’m well-versed in it.
My next love is music. Again, I don’t mean all music, but the music I do listen to I am enthralled with it. I seem to like most rock music from about 1967-1975. My favorite artists are Neil Young, James Taylor, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, etc. Blues music is also very fascinating to me. I think Albert King, Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Blind Lemon Jefferson are among the best of that sub-genre.
The most recent of my three hobbies is golf. I started getting interested in the sport when I was about 13 or 14, and became serious about it when I was 15. It actually helped me lose over 40 lbs. as I was entering high school. For a long time, I thought it was what I was going to do for a profession. During my time on the high school golf team, I would routinely spend 3-5 hours every day hitting golf balls. I was determined to be a competitive player. A high level of skill was never acquired, but I did become an expert on golf history, as well as the golf swing.
For the site I’ll be creating about these hobbies, I’ll be adding two more hobbies probably. I’ll make each page devoted to one area of interest. The pages will include movies, music, golf, comic books, and billiards (pool). I add in the comic book part because I was an avid collector when I was younger. As for the billiards, I used to gamble in pool games and could perform numerous trick shots. I may include various organizations for each of these topics on the site, but have not decided exactly what I’ll do yet.
I like that you chose to do a few hobbies instead of just one. I had this same problem when choosing my hobby, I chose traveling because there are several places in the world I love and just felt the need to talk about, mainly because I had trouble choosing a hobby and could not think of only a single travel destination I wanted to elaborate on. I’m sure your hobbyb site will turn out great!
